My Name Is Joseph Chand I am 50 years old. I had been training on and off for some time at a local gym.
I first met André In September 2004; he gave me some advice whilst I was working out. I found this advice to extremely helpful as it helped me to realise that I wasn't quite doing what I should have been. At the time, I weighed just over 15stones and I am 5 feet 5 inches tall. I then started training with André; I received all round information from diet to training techniques with no pressure. It was so much fun to keep fit with André's methods.

By February 2005 I had lost 3 stones! (That's 3 stones in 20 weeks!) I have learnt so much from André to carry on a balanced training and educated diet regime. I also feel much more energetic and enthusiastic in my everyday living. And even though I still train occasionally with André he places no pressure to train with him indefinitely. As he says it's about teaching us to be independent in the long term.

“I wanted to change my body shape and feel more confident in myself.”

I realised what I wanted was to get the best out of my workout, when I only had 30-45 minutes. Rather than having to spend up to 2 hours at a time at the gym and more importantly know what equipment to use and why I should be doing particular exercises and what they would be doing for me. I trained with Andre twice a week for 12 weeks. My routine was varied, which helped keep it fresh and I never got bored. I am my own worst enemy and automatically think I won’t be able to do a particular exercise and moan. If there is one thing I have realised about Andre is his faith in me as a person is amazing. He would never make me do something I didn’t want to, if however, he believed I can do it, he would either simply ask me to do it, or get tough, and afterwards praised me for giving it a go.

For me it was never about how much weight I lost, as personally I felt that it was not the best judge of how well I have done. I wanted to change my body shape and feel more confident in myself. Which led to me wearing a dress to my work Christmas party, something I would never have done before, as it would involve showing my arms. To sum up my experience with Andre, I would say it has been hard at times-doing things which made me have to come out of my comfort zone. But I have enjoyed it and what I have learnt is invaluable. As a trainer and as a person Andre is fantastic, and if I knew someone who wanted a personal trainer, I would recommend Andre without hesitation.

I was already a regular gym user and runner and had just finished my fourth marathon. Although fit, I still needed to tone up, lose weight and improve my fitness further so that I could get even better race results. During my consultation, Andre quickly spotted that my posture and upper body strength required a lot of work - which are things I had never really considered before. Like most women, I just wanted slimmer legs and a flatter tummy! I now realise how important these extra aspects are - both to my every day living and to my running. Andre understands that I need to be challenged and motivated to achieve good results. I like to work hard at my training and am now starting to feel the benefits of having Andre's guidance. I've still got far to go, but with consistency and perseverance I'll get there! Getting my nutrition on track is my next goal - but my hectic work schedule is getting in the way of perfecting this at the moment. Once I have sorted my diet out everything will fall into place, which I'm looking forward to!
